Confirmation
Confirmation is the sacrament of the Holy Spirit. We remember that the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus on the occasion of his baptism in the Jordan and confirmed him as the savior. The old preacher already wrote: " The Spirit of the Lord is upon me...He sent me... " In the Gospel of St. Luke Jesus applies those words to himself (Luke 4:18).
Jesus promised the Holy Spirit to the apostles. They will testify for him by his power. The disciples received the promised gift of the Spirit at the first Spirits and immediately by the laying on of hands they passed that gift on to all the baptized. This renews the event of the Spirits in the Church: the Holy Spirit establishes the hearts of Jesus' disciples in faith, in hope, in love and witness.
The laying on of hands is a sign of the sacrament of confirmation. It denotes anointing with the Holy Spirit, which is often mentioned in the Holy Scriptures.
Confirmation continues and complements the consecration that began with baptism. In order for someone to be able to access confirmation, he must be baptized, because we said that without baptism there are no other sacraments. A candidate for confirmation must be in grace (ie in friendship with God and people), be appropriately taught, and be able to renew baptismal promises.
The essence of the confirmation rite is anointing the forehead with chrism oil, along with the words:
RECEIVE THE SEAL OF THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
The endorser answers:AMEN.
The regular distributor of the sacrament of confirmation is the bishop as the successor of the apostles. But the bishop can delegate any priest for that service.
For confirmation, it is necessary to have a godfather. The conditions for a godfather are the same as for baptism.
Potvrda (Krizma)
Time se događaj Duhova u Crkvi obnavlja: Duh Sveti utvrđuje srca Isusovih učenika u vjeri, u nadi, u ljubavi i svjedočenju.
