Reconciliation

Sacraments
Overview

Reconciliation

After the first fall in the Garden of Eden, man is somehow inclined towards evil. It is much easier for him to rush into evil than to do good. With his redemptive death and resurrection, Jesus restored us to the embrace of the heavenly Father, but, unfortunately, we still have the possibility of falling into evil. We also fall, we make mistakes.

During his earthly life, Jesus said to the apostles: " Whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven... " (John 20:23). With these words, he established the sacrament of Reconciliation , confession or penance . He gave the Church the power to forgive sins in his name after sincere repentance.

In religious education, we learn that five things are necessary for a good confession:

  1. Think over sins
  2. Repent of sins
  3. To decide that we will not sin again
  4. Repentantly confess all your sins
  5. Perform the ordered penance

How do we confess?

When we enter the confessional, we say:

I repentantly confess all my sins. The last time I went to confession, tell me when

I did penance. These are my sins. And now say everything you know you did wrong

When you have finished confessing your sins, listen to the lesson that the priest will tell you. Remember the penance he gave you, and then pray:

I repent from the bottom of my heart
that I offended God, the Greatest
and most beloved good.
I hate all my sins
and firmly decide that I will improve
and not sin again.

Now listen to the words of absolution, and when the priest tells you to go in peace, answer: Thank God! Go from the confessional and immediately pray the prescribed penance.

Pomirenje

I mi padamo, griješimo.

Zapamti pokoru koju ti je dao, a onda moli:

Kajem se od svega srca
što uvrijedih Boga Najveće
i najmilije dobro.
Mrzim na sve svoje grijehe
i čvrsto odlučujem da ću se popraviti
i da neću više griješiti.

Sada saslušaj riječi odriješenja, a kad ti svećenik kaže idi u miru, odgovori: Bogu hvala! Idi iz ispovjedaonice i odmah moli zadanu pokoru.
